2026-2027 SMMC Board Members

Caity Saunders
PRESIDENT

EMAIL

Caity is a Bay Area native who grew up on the Peninsula and planted roots in Marin with her husband, Sean, their one-year-old daughter, and their two dogs. She studied marketing at Tulane University, where she met her husband, but ultimately pursued her passion for education and became an elementary teacher. She taught for six years, earned a masters in literacy from USF, and now tutors part time so she can spend her days raising her daughter at home.

Caity joined SMMC shortly after welcoming her daughter and is so grateful for the meaningful friendships and supportive community it has added to her life as a mom. Caity has led her playgroup, along with a few other groups, and spent last year on SMMC’s board supporting our playgroups and communities. She is thrilled to be president-elect and finds great joy in volunteering her time to support SMMC’s mission. She enjoys exploring Marin with her friends and family, baking and crafting with her daughter, and embroidering gifts for friends.

Addison
 PRESIDENT-Elect

EMAIL

Addison grew up on the Peninsula in the Bay Area and later attended college in Berkeley. After spending five years in San Francisco, she and her husband moved to Marin in 2020, where they’ve since built their home and community. With a background in social media marketing for the beauty and confectionery retail industries, Addison transitioned to consulting for nonprofits around Marin after welcoming a baby in 2023 (and another baby coming 2026!).

The Southern Marin Mothers’ Club played a pivotal role in the first few years of motherhood, providing her with invaluable support and connection. Now, she’s excited to give back and help foster the same sense of community for new mothers that made such a difference in her journey.

Susan Williams
Treasurer

EMAIL

Susan is originally from Texas, but feels lucky to call Mill Valley home. She has a background in education, from teaching to EdTech, but decided to stay at home when her firstborn turned one-year-old. She has two kids: Jack & Sadie. She loves family adventures: hiking & e-biking, and date nights with her husband, Jimmy. Susan joined SMMC during her first pregnancy, but really connected with other moms when she became a stay-at-home-mom. She's so thankful to have a community to get local recommendations, parenting advice, and social events.

Lo
Secretary

Email

Lo is native to Marin, living here with her husband and their one year old son. She operates her family business and studied economics in college. Lo enjoys the artistry of Marin's landscapes by regularly hiking and painting them. Southern Marin Mother’s Club provides her a space to make new friends, learn fresh ideas and create fun events that bring people together. She joined SMMC when her son was 6 weeks old looking for kindred moms with whom she could navigate being a working mom and is excited to give back on the board!

Hillary Wells
Director of Advertising and Community Partnerships

EMAIL

Hillary grew up in the Central Valley, attended college in Santa Barbara, and spent 10 years in San Francisco, before moving to Marin with her husband while pregnant with her daughter. She spent her early career in tech sales, before ultimately leaving her 9-5 to pursue her brand photography business full-time where she's created website and marketing photos for women entrepreneurs and small businesses for the last 9 years.

After her daughter was born, she took 19 months off to be a stay at home mom and now focuses on her photography business part-time, while raising her toddler. Hillary joined SMMC to create friendships in Marin and to stay active while home with her daughter. She credits SMMC for being the primary reason she was able to enjoy her stay at home mom experience and believes every region should have something similar! When not working or volunteering, she enjoys going on mini adventures around the Bay Area, reading, and all things food/wine.

As a small business owner herself, Hillary is excited to join as Director of Advertising and Community Partnerships to give back to SMMC and the small businesses in our community.

Taylor
Director of Philanthropy

EMAIL

Taylor was born in Italy and raised in Marin, where she and her husband met at a taqueria. They now live in Larkspur with their two young kids, Kira (4) and Jacob (1). She studied Global Studies at UCSB and, after a few career pivots, now works in investor relations at an investment firm. When Taylor is not working or wrangling kids, she loves hiking, cooking, traveling, and finding any excuse for a good meal with friends. Taylor joined SMMC to meet other moms, build community, and was especially drawn to its philanthropic mission.

kathleen
Director of membership

EMAIL

Kathleen grew up in SoCal, pursued undergrad in NorCal then moved East for 8 years to volunteer in Baltimore, work in DC, and start/finish grad school. Kathleen's Mom said she'd only return to this coast if work made her, which it did. After meeting her husband and future stepson, it was evident she'd remain. Kathleen joined SMMC the day before going into labor and fully regrets not doing so sooner.  Her extraversion manifests as a working Mom who’s passionate about learning from, being around, and supporting Moms.  SMMC stewarded her through newborn craziness and baby/toddler parenting that she hadn’t experienced with her stepson.  Her 2024-2025 term as SMMC President coincided with the unanticipated sandwich generation journey and loss of her own Mom.  She was and remains especially grateful for the ongoing and extensive support of the Board as she navigated grief and leadership, so as cliche as it sounds, she was compelled to give back more.  This is her second year as Director of Membership, and will be her final* year on the SMMC Board.

Denise
The crier editor

EMAIL

Denise is third generation Marinite who is dedicated to vulnerably discussing the not-so-pretty parts of the beautiful role of motherhood. She is inspired by her three daughters to help women manage their expectations, let go of perfectionism, and lean into their enoughness. Denise is a certified Early Childhood Educator (ECE) with a K-8 Multiple Subject Clear Credential who has taught it all from preschool to middle school. She works in an admissions role for a Toddler-8th grade Southern Marin independent school and has been writing for The Crier since September of 2021.

About Southern Marin Mothers' Club

The Southern Marin Mothers' Club (SMMC) was formed in June 1993, when three women came together at a seminar on how to organize a mothers' club. Linda Lam, Anna Knox and Julie Stanton were committed to starting a mothers' club but they needed at least $500 in start-up funds. After making various presentations they obtained donations and were on their way. The first SMMC Board consisted of 15 members and membership grew to over 100 within a couple of months.

While the core values of SMMC have remained the same, there has been much growth within the club. Did you know that SMMC is entirely volunteer run? Nearly 70 moms and dads give their time and talents to provide a vast array of programs, events and resources. SMMC now offers so much-playgroups, events, education webinars and seminars, online forums, Facebook groups, classifieds, articles, Preschool Fair, discounts with Community Partners, philanthropic efforts and so much more!

SMMC, registered as Southern Marin Mothers’ Organization, is a non-profit, volunteer run club that strives to provide supportive, nurturing community for families to share meaningful experiences, fun, and fellowship that strengthens family bonds. If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to our exempt organization (as described in IRC Section 501(c)(3), Tax ID# 68-0427069), please mail a check to: Southern Marin Mothers' Club Organization, P.O. Box 271, Mill Valley, CA 94942 or donate to SMMC HERE >>.  We thank you in advance.
