SMMC THANKSGIVING MEAL BOX PROJECT

By: Dahlia Stein & Janet Carter   |   November 18, 2021

Thanksgiving can be a hard time for some families. This year, SMMC organized a Thanksgiving Meal Box Project with Homeward Bound Marin, the main provider of homeless shelter and services. Our goal was to provide 35 families under their care with items to prepare healthy, well balanced, and hearty warm meals. In these boxes we placed a turkey, potatoes, stuffing, herbs, fresh green beans and a variety of non-perishables to make a wonderful thanksgiving meal.

We are pleased to report that donations have poured in and we have far exceeded our philanthropic goal for this project. SMMC has also matched all donations up to $1,500 to bring the total amount well over $4000.

A huge THANK YOU to all the moms and dads in our community who so generously supported this cause.

Over 41 families will be receiving these Thanksgiving Meal Boxes, complete with personalized artwork by local children for an extra touch of care and love.

An additional 30 families who are unable to cook will receive grocery store gift cards to complement their holiday celebrations.

We thank all those who pitched in to donate, coordinate and help box the food!
