CALMING GLITTER BOTTLES
An art project that uses recycled materials, glitter and anything else you find around the house results in a pretty product and provides a fun activity for the afternoon.
Inspired by a recipe on Instagram, this is how I did it: (original recipe by @ourbeautifulbreathoflife )
- 80% warm water
- 20% clear glue
- Glitter
- Use a band around the jar as a marker and pour to the line
- Once everything is in, shake it up
- Once it’s all combined, leave the lid off and allow mixture to fully cool before sealing.
- Superglue the lid shut for extra precaution
I also put some plastic numbers in there. You can get creative.
Enjoy watching the mesmerizing glitter flow swirl to the bottom!
BAKED OATS
My picky toddler won’t eat much but if I say it’s cake then it’s a go. TikTok is full of baked oat recipes but here’s my favorite:
- 1/2 c oats
- 1/2 banana
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c almond/oat milk
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp sugar
- Blend together and cook in the oven at 375 for 20-35 mins.
MUSIC FOR ROUTINES
We have songs for lots of tasks that we do daily. We have a tooth brushing song, a riding in the car song and a lullaby song. Music is motivating and predictable and a great way to provide structure and excitement for simple tasks.
TONGS
Tongs make everything more fun! My toddler enjoys putting little balls or stones into different containers and tongs require that much more focus and fine motor skills.
TOY ROTATION
We have a shelf in our living room that holds 6-9 toys. Each week I pack up the toys and put them in a box in the garage and swap out with a new box of toys. Keeps things fresh.
