FIVE MOM HACKS FROM ELENNA NEE

By: Elenna Nee   |   July 8, 2021

The Southern Marin Mothers’ Club is all about helping our members help each other approach the world of parenting with a little more knowledge, support and grace. In this new series called “SMMC Mom Hacks” we interview mothers in our community to hear about the clever tips and tricks they’ve discovered on the long road to making mothering easier!

This week, we feature resourceful Tam Valley mom, Elenna Nee, who shares her favorite mom hack tips with the SMMC community.

ART IN A BAG

Put a squeeze of paint into a (well sealed) Ziplock bag and tape it up against the window at kids-eye-level. This fun and creative activity can keep a toddler entertained for hours!

ONE FOOT, TWO FOOT

Cut a big sticker right down the middle and stick each half on the instep of the child’s shoe to help them learn their left from their right.

THE LITTLEST SOUS CHEF

This kind of a kitchen helper stool is a safe way for kids to reach the counter. Set your kids up with a bunch of Play-doh or some soft food scraps for them to “chop” and they’ll stay entertained while you’re cooking.

SIMPLIFY YOUR CHILD-PROOFING

If your cupboard knobs are anything like ours, you can use simple hair-ties for DIY child proofing.

KEEP PLANTS AND KID HAPPY

Fill a little mister bottle with water when you do a round of plant watering and you can take your gardening companion on a plant tending journey with you. It’s the perfect size for small hands to keep busy while you complete the task.

Elenna Nee lives in Tam Valley with her toddler and husband. Their favorite activities include hikes in the Marin Headlands, family dance parties and cooking together. Elenna previously worked in digital media and spent 2 years in the performing arts sector. She takes those creative skills into her biggest role yet, being a stay-at-home mom.
