At the Southern Marin Mothers’ Club, our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) goes beyond intention—it’s about action. It is our aim to uplift voices within our community and foster meaningful connections among our members. One of the most impactful ways we are doing this is by supporting and amplifying our Affinity Groups.
These member-led groups provide spaces for families with shared identities, backgrounds, or lived experiences to connect, celebrate, and support one another. They are central to creating a more inclusive and welcoming SMMC for all families.
We currently have the following member-created Affinity Groups in our SMMC community:
-
Asian Families
-
Black+ Families
-
Catholic Families
-
Jewish Families
-
Latino Families
-
LGBTQIA+ Families
-
Multiracial Families
-
Special Needs Families
-
South Asian Families
These groups are open to all SMMC members whose families identify with these communities. Whether through playdates, discussions, cultural celebrations, or finding solidarity in shared experiences, the Affinity Groups help nurture the sense of belonging that our SMMC families deserve. Our role is to provide resources and build relationships with these groups, and to learn how they would like to be supported by SMMC.
